Three prisoners remain in ICU after falling seriously ill after suspected drug overdoses to eleven prisoners at Portlaoise Prison on Tuesday.
They are included in the five still in hospital while the remaining six have returned to prison.
The incident occurred mere weeks after the Irish Prison Service issued an urgent drug alert across all prisons.
