Leitrim sharpshooter Ailbhe Clancy has named as the PWC/GPA Player of the Month for August after helping her county lift the TG4 All-Ireland intermediate football title.
The Glenfarne native scored 2-3 in Leitrim’s dramatic 3-11 to 3-10 victory over Tyrone in the Croke Park decider earlier this month.
Her two goals in the final, one in each half, came at pivotal moments in a closely-contested contest – and saw her collect the Player of the Match award at Croker.

She has little time to draw breath this weekend, as her club, Glencar/Manorhamilton begin the defence of their Gotham Dry Wall Leitrim senior football title this Friday evening when they take on St Mary’s in their opening championship game in Boggaun at 7:30pm (changed from Sunday morning).
