Free schoolbooks scheme expansion to benefit north west students

Students across the North West are set to benefit from the expansion of the Free Schoolbooks scheme.

It’s been confirmed that students up as far as the Junior Cert Cycle will now be eligible to receive free books upon returning to school.

Nationwide, 775,000 students in primary, secondary and special education schools will benefit from a move that will decrease the financial burden on families.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Sligo Drumcliffe Fine Gael councillor, Thomas Walsh, says that the next step now must be to expand the scheme further to Leaving Cert students.
