Glencar/Manor fighting for their championship lives in Leitrim

Glencar/Manorhamilton are fighting for their championship lives in the Leitrim Connacht Gold senior football championship following Saturday evening’s 1-16 to 1-6 loss to Mohill.

The north Leitrim club were severely depleted for the fixture – and team manager Dominic Kelly believes a punishing league and championship schedule, coupled with young players need for time off, is becoming untenable.

With three teams set to be relegated from this year’s senior football championship in Leitrim, next weekend’s round 4 fixtures will be make-or-break games for several clubs.

The bottom four teams at the end of the group phase (Rd 4) will go into the relegation play-offs.

From there, three teams will make the drop to intermediate championship football next season.
