Holders Naomh Conaill stumble in Donegal SFC

Reigning Donegal Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure senior football champions Naomh Conaill were beaten by rivals St Eunan’s in Sunday’s round 2 clash at Davy Brennan Memorial Park in Glenties, on a final scoreline of 1-13 to 0-10.

Naomh Conaill, generally regarded as the team to beat in this year’s championship, came unstuck against Eunan’s who backed up their six-point win over Kilcar last weekend, with a similar winning margin here.

While the result does no terminal damage to Naomh Conaill’s champioonship prospects, it may instill fresh belief amongst some of the other championship hopefuls that the holders might not be the insurmountable force of recentt seasons.

The draw for Round 3 has handed  the champions a trip to MacCumhaills.
