Dog rescued after falling off cliff in south west Donegal

It’s emerged that a dog has been rescued after falling off a cliff in south west Donegal.

It was after a seven hour operation yesterday.

Killybegs Coast Guard were tasked to the area by Malin Head Coast Guard to the Glenlough Bay area shortly after 1pm.

The alarm was raised after fears that someone might attempt to rescue the dog themselves.

This prompted a swift response from the coast guard team.

The team from Killybegs Coast Guard hiked for an hour and a half to the location and set up their climbing gear.

After several hours, the dog was rescued and brought back to safety.

The team eventually returned to base at 8:30pm, describing the mission as a success.

In a statement, Killybegs Coast Guard thanked farmers who helped in transporting equipment to and from the location.
