Nine development projects across North West allocated almost €450,000

Nine projects across the North West have been allocated funding just shy of €450,000 through the Town Centre First scheme.

The funding has been announced by Minister for Community and Rural Development, Heather Humphreys.

In the North West, Sligo will be the biggest beneficiary, with three projects receiving €50,000 each. A county-wide development will see the establishment of a food hub network, with hubs to be set up in Enniscrone, Grange, Tubbercurry and Collooney.

Funding has also been allocated for the Beachery in Rosses Point to become a community and visitor amenity, while a community hub will also be built in Tubbercurry, which will include a playground, soccer pitch, running track and sensory garden.

In Leitrim, €50,000 will go towards an evaluation of the narrow bridge into the community park in Dromahair, in order to provide both pedestrian and vehicle access to the park.

Another €50,000 has been awarded to carry out environmental and active travel assessments in four key green areas in Carrick on Shannon, while just over €48,000 will be going towards planning permission preparations for derelict buildings in Leitrim Village.

And in Donegal, €50,000 is going towards both the developments of a cultural arts venue on the Main Street in Ardara, and a visitor centre at Mount Errigal in Dunlewey. While in Dungloe, just under €47,500 has been allocated for a public civil space which will host events in the centre of the town.

In total, €2.6m has been awarded to 53 development projects across the country.
