Dublin mountain climber Killian Mooney won the 38th Warriors Run on Saturday in an impressive time of 55:27.
He finished ahead of the Sligo AC duo Matthew McMeekin in second and last year’s winner Seamus Somers in third.
Another dub, Aoife McCavana, retained her women’s title with an impressive run on Saturday.
Tubbercurry native Sarah Kelly was second.

This year’s Warriors Run, a 10-mile trek from the Cannon at Strandhill village up to the top of Knocknarea mountain – and back – drew a record entry of 1500 runners and walkers across the main run, walk and junior warriors competitions.

Saturday’s event was also memorable for the run of Sligo athlete Alan ‘Pal’ Gilmartin, who completed two circuits of the Warriors Run route, one after the other, on Saturday to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
His fundraising around this run has already raised more than €30,000.
