It’s emerged that a substantial amount of land and three out buildings in County Leitrim has been seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau.
It was one of three seizures made last week following a ruling by the High Court that the homes in question were all proceeds of crime.
The other seizures were of properties located in Longford and Kildare.
In an interview with the Irish Independent, Detective Chief Superintendent Michael Gubbins said the properties in Leitrim, Longford and Kildare are now in the bureau’s possession and will be put up for sale.
The detective revealed that 24 seized properties have been sold in the past 12 months – the largest amount in one year since Cab was founded in 1996.
