Families express concern for Irish peace keeping forces in Lebanon



Many families in this region with loved ones serving on peace keeping missions in Lebanon breathed a collective sigh of relief recently when it was confirmed by the Tánaiste Micheál Martin that all Irish troops there were safe following a series of airstrikes by Israel against Hezbollah over the weekend .

 

It emerged that Irish personnel serving in UNIFIL had to take shelter in secured bunkers.

“Irish Defence Forces and UNIFIL HQ are said to be monitoring the situation closely.

There are 375 Irish personnel, serving at UNFIL headquarters, stationed in Lebanon.
