Tourlestrane’s senior men’s gaelic football manager, Mike Solan, is set to become the new Longford boss.
Solan, who’s a native of Ballaghaderreen in Mayo, previously guided the Mayo U21s to an All-Ireland title in 2016 – and had worked as assistant to Andy Moran for a time when he was Leitrim senior football manager.
Solan took over as Tourlestrane manager in January following Fergal O’Donnell’s departure at the end of last season.
His team collected their first win of the 2024 Sligo Homeland SFC last Sunday evening with a 0-11 to 0-6 victory over St Molaise Gaels.
It’s understood Solan will be recommended to club delegates at the next Longford county board meeting.
He will succeed former Dublin football Paddy Christie, who stepped down at the end of this year’s championship season.
The indications are that Solan will continue to manage Tourlestrane for the remainder of their 2024 Sligo SFC campaign before beginning his new Longford role in earnest.
