Education Minister says ‘extensive consultation’ took place prior to her decision on banning mobiles.

With the majority of schools having reopened and most children will having returned to school many families will now be trying to address the significant cost factor associated with the new school year.

In an attempt to offset some of these costs the Education Minister, Norma Foley is launching the second year of the free schoolbooks scheme for primary schools this week.

Minister Foley has also recently announced how she is looking to introduce a blanket ban on mobile phone use in secondary schools.

The Minister for education earlier joined John Lynch on North West Today.
