Halle Conlon-Oates wins bronze at World Kickboxing Championships



Collooney Kicking Club’s Halle Conlon-Oates has won a bronze medal for Ireland the WAKO World Championships in Budapest.

Conlon-Oates, a world champion in Italy two years ago, was beaten in Thursday’s Kick Light semi-final by her Spanish opponent – but secures another podium finish at a major championships.

She had reached the last four after an impressive quarter-final victory against Italy on Wednesday.

Halle’s sister Lucy was unlucky to lose out 13-12 to Great Britain in her quarter-final, also on Wednesday.

There’s the prospect of more medal success for Collooney kickboxing club this week.

PJ Scanlon has secured a place in the final of his division.

He’s assured of at least a silver medal.
