ATU Sligo’s Shauna Bocquet reaches Paralympic final



ATU Sligo student Shauna Bocquet has qualifies for the final of the women’s T54 5000 metres at the Paralympics in Paris.

Bocquet qualified a comfortable fourth in her semi-final heat on Frdiay morning in a time of 12:44.52 to book her place for Ireland in the final.

The first five athletes from each semi-final qualified to contest Saturday’s Paralympic final.

Bocquet is a native of Craughwell in Galway.

The 20-year-old, who has spina bifida, is a second-year Sport and Exercise Science student at ATU Sligo.

The final of the T54 5000m is on Saturday morning at 9:40am.
