Frank Feighan selected by Fine Gael to contest General Election



Sitting TD Frank Feighan been selected by Fine Gael to represent the party in the Sligo-Leitrim constituency at the next General Election.

 

He defeated John Perry in last night’s convention by 352 votes to 77.

 

Earlier in the evening, Cllr Thomas Walsh withdrew as a candidate.

 

Cllr Walsh made the decision after sources from within the party informed him that the directive at the convention was select only one candidate.

 

Fine Gael have now chosen 34 General Election candidates in 22 constituencies – in the Donegal constituency John McNulty and Nikki Bradley have been selected to contest the election there.
