Over half of cars failed NCT across North West in August



Over half of cars failed the NCT test across the north west during August.

 

The statistics were made available on the official NCT website.

 

In total, just over 5,500 tests were carried out in Sligo, Carrick on Shannon, Donegal Town and Letterkenny centres throughout the month.

 

Donegal Town was found to have the highest pass rate, with 474 passes, which is 48.92% in total.

 

That was followed by Letterkenny, with a pass rate of 47.95%, 46.01% of a pass rate in Sligo and in Carrick-on-Shannon the pass rate was 41.62%.

 

Across the four centres, there was a total of 3,041 failures. 2,583 of those were major failures, with the remaining 483 listed as dangerous failures.

 

Sligo saw the highest number of dangerous failures, with 148, followed by Letterkenny with 135.

 

Carrick-on-Shannon was next, with 114 dangerous failures, while Donegal Town had the least, with 61.

 

In total, the pass rate for the region was 48.92%, the major failure rate came in at 44.79%, with the dangerous failure rate accounting for 6.3% of the overall total.
