Public taken for a ride over bike shelter controversy – Doherty



The public are being taken for a ride over the bike shelter controversy.

 

That’s according to Sinn Feins Finance Spokesperson and Donegal TD Pearse Doherty, who has been speaking following confirmation that a full review is to be carried out into why it cost over 300 thousand euro to build the shelter in Leinster House.

 

The Minister for the OPW has asked for an analysis of the costs of the shelter which can hold 36 bikes.

 

The Department says it recognises the importance of ensuring public money is spent transparently.

 

But Deputy Doherty believes that the Government is ultimately responsible and that this is just the latest example in a long list of runaway costs:
