Names to withdraw at Donegal FF selection convention

It’s believed that a number of names are to withdraw from the race at the Donegal Fianna Fail selection convention.

It’s set to take place next week.

Six people had been forward for convention in Donegal and include sitting TD and Minister Charlie McConalogue, Senator Niall Blaney, Cllrs Michael Naughton and Donal Mandy Kelly former TD and MEP Pat the Cope Gallagher and Ben Harkin.

As per tradition, Fianna Fail is set to choose two Donegal candidates on the night, one to run in the North East and another in the South West of the county.

It’s believed though that despite six names originally in the mix, only three will be in the race with the other three set to withdraw on the night.

The selection will take place on Thursday night next and is set to take a number of hours.
