Coolera/Strandhill & St Molaise reach semi-finals

Last year’s county finalists in the Sligo Homeland senior football championship have both booked their places in the last four of this year’s competition following impressive group victories in their respective group matches on Sunday.

A goal from county star Niall Murphy helped Coolera/Strandhill make it three wins from three in Group 1 as they accounted for Tubbercurry at Kent Park on a final scoreline of 1-12 to 0-8.

With one group game still to play, there are assured of a top-two finish in the group.

In Group 2, St Molaise racked up on of the biggest scoring tallies in recent club championship memory as they hit St Mary’s for 1-20 in an impressive eight-point win at Bunninadden.

The win means they too are through to semi-finals regardless of what happens in the concluding Group 2 fixture between Drumcliffe/Rosses Point and St Mary’s in a fortnight’s time.

That fixture will determine who joins Molaise from Group 2 in the last four.
