Taoiseach hears of Sligo cancer bus debacle

The Taoiseach has confirmed that he will liaise with his ministerial colleagues on the ongoing cancer bus debacle.

The current bus is currently without a toilet which has left passengers with no option but to ask the driver to stop at service stations along the route, while it is inaccessible for wheelchair users.

Independent TD for Sligo-Leitrim Marian Harkin raised the issue on the floor of the Dáil, calling on the HSE to take responsibility despite calls in some quarters for community groups to get funding together.

Deputy Harkin with the help of the health executive, it would go a long way in what is already a challenging time for patients

In response, Taoiseach Simon Harris acknowledged Deputy Harkin’s concerns.
