Concerns raised over multiple rural child service closures in Sligo



There are ongoing concerns regarding a lack of child services in county Sligo.

 

The issue was raised in the Dáil, where it was revealed that six separate child services have closed its doors.

 

The child services which have had to close its doors were found to have been in rural areas in Sligo.

 

Independent Sligo-Leitrim TD Marian Harkin stated that owners of these services are devastated by the closures.

 

 

In response, the Minister with responsibility for disability, Anne Rabbitte stated that there has been an increase in enrollments, and a fall in child service closure.
