Sonic Minds were announced as the winners of Ocean FM’s Search for a Local Hero, in association with Irish Music Month.
The Sligo-based alternative rock group were chosen as the representatives in a panel of over thirty entrants.
The group are among a list of 21 representatives from 21 radio stations, the six finalists chosen will perform at The Academy in Dublin on the 15th of October.
Head judge Kieran Quinn outlined his reasons for what made Sonic Minds stand out.
Sonic Minds’ Ryan Scanlon said that “a ton of practice” went in to the song, and that the goal is “to win it all”.
