Donegal rowers to compete for Ireland at Home International Rowing Beach Sprints



Four Donegal rowers will represent Ireland in the Home International Rowing Beach Sprints, which take place this weekend.

Eva Shovlin, who’s just 16, of Loughros Point Rowing Club, will compete in the Junior 19 women’s singles category.

Also of Loughros Point Rowing Club, Michael O’Boyle and Lucy Bracken will take part in the Senior Mixed Doubles, while Meabh McNamara of Donegal Bay Rowing Club will contest the U23 Mixed Doubles, along with Alexander Graham Smythe of Dublin.

Both O’Boyle and McNamara bring a wealth of experience with them into the competition, with O’Boyle taking a Bronze medal at the Coupe de le Jeunesse Beach Sprints in Italy last year, while McNamara also has a Bronze from the Irish Championships in the women’s singles.

Team Ireland are coached by Shaun Molloy of Loughros Point.

The Home International Rowing Beach Sprints will be held in Bournemouth, UK this weekend, getting underway on Saturday.
