Both former MEP Chris MacManus and Cllr Thomas Healy are to seek a Sinn Fein nomination to stand for the party in the next General Election in the Sligo-Leitrim constituency.
The party is to hold its selection convention in Sligo on Thursday next.
It is understood that the party has decided to run two candididates.
Outgoing TD, Martin Kenny, will be selected again to run, so delegates will be voting at the convention to ratify a second candidate.
Chris MacManus was due to stand in the last General Election in 2020, but made way for Deputy Kenny, and later went on to be co-opted as an MEP in the Midlands North West constituency.
Cllr Healy was re-elected as a Sligo county councillor in June’s local elections.
