Inspired St Mary’s & Shamrock Gaels make Sligo SFC semi-finals

St Mary’s produced their best performance of the Sligo Homeland senior football championship to date on Sunday to recorded a deserved 3-11 to 2-8 win over Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in an entertaining climax to Group, played in Keash on Sunday.

The win means Mark Breheny’s side finish top of Group 2, with St Molaise Gaels joining them in the semi-finals.

The defeat for Drumcliffe/Rosses Point, their first of this year’s championship, means they’ve missed out on a place in the knockout stages.

In Group 1, Shamrock Gaels finish top thanks to a four-point win over holders Coolera/Strandhill in Ballymote – Coolera were already through to the last four prior to Sunday’s game.

That win for Gaels edged out Tubbercurry who recorded a big win over Calry/St Joseph’s – but were relying on a slip-up from Shamrock Gaels at Corran Park.
