St Francis are Leitrim intermediate champions

St Francis captured the Leitrim Gotham Dry Wall intermediate football title for 2024 on Saturday in Cloone with a dramatic one-point victory over Dromahair.

The Drumshambo-Ballinaglera amalgamation won out on a final scoreline of 2-9 to 2-8.

In an exciting final, Dromahair led by 2-3 to 1-4 at the interval, and were still in front as the game ticked into the dying moments.

However, St Francis, conjured up two late points to snatch victory, with Player of the Match Ailish Cornyn playing a pivotal role in the win.

Cornyn, an All-Ireland winner with her native Cavan back in 2013, scored those two memorable points to edge her team to victory.

She spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s PJ Leddy after Saturday’s final.
