Drumcliffe/Rosses Point reach Connacht club final

A converted penalty from Keela Scanlon in the closing moments gave Sligo Connacht Gold intermediate champions Drumcliffe/Rosses Point a dramatic two-point victory over Mayo champions Castlebar Michels in Sunday’s Connacht LGFA club semi-final, played at Josie Munnelly Park in Castlebar.

The North Sligo side won on a final scoreline of 3-3 to 1-7.

They trailed Castlebar by four points at half-time – but stuck to their plan and second-half goals from Rianne Smith and Scanlon helped turn the game in their favour.

It’s Drumcliffe/Rosses Point’s second provincial final in three years, having reached a Connacht junior final in 2022 (which they lost to eventual All-Ireland champions Salthill-Knocknarra).

The Sligo champions will face Annaghdown of Galway in the intermediate decider.

The Galway side beat St Ciaran’s (Roscommon) in Sunday’s other semi-final by 2-8 to 0-12.
