Naughton rules himself out of election bid

Fianna Fail Cllr Michael Naughton has confirmed that he will not be running as an independent candidate in the upcoming General Election.

Rumours had been circulating that Cllr Naughton, who topped the poll in the Donegal MD in the recent local elections had been considering the move.

It was after the party raised some eyebrows by adding Claudia Kennedy to the ticket in the Donegal constituency along with Pat the Cope Gallagher and Minister Charlie McConalogue.

But speaking to Ocean FM news, Cllr Naughton poured cold water over those reports and added that he hopes to run for Fianna Fail next time round.
