Manorhamilton street to be renamed after MacDiarmada this Sunday



A day of commemoration and celebration will take place in Manorhamilton this Sunday to mark the renaming of Lower Main Street in the town.

It is now to be known as Sean MacDiarmada Street in honor of the 1916 Proclamation signatory who lived in the townland of Corranmore, outside nearby Kiltytclogher.

Sunday’s events start in Manorhamilton with a parade at 2pm.

A festive concert at 3:45 will include a reading of the Proclamation followed by The Army Pipers Recital and the Emerald Revelers.

At 5:30 there will be a lecture in The Glens Centre on the impact of the 1916 Rebellion on Manorhamilton.

There will also be an exhibition in The Sculptuire Centre from 6:30 to 9pm, which will run until June 4th.
