Councillor says land is there for N56 footpath to Killymard school

A Sinn Fein councillor in Donegal believes there should be no reason why funding cannot be sought for a footpath along the N56 between Donegal Town and Killymard school.

Councillor Noel Jordan raised the issue at a recent meeting of the Donegal Municipal District on health and safety grounds.

225 children attend the school which also has 14 teachers and a recent petition of over 500 signatures was presented asking for the building of a foothpath along the road.

Parents previously outlined their concerns to the Municipal District members in 2015 about the dangers of the road near the school but were told land needed to be secured.

Councillor Jordan says that has now been done.
