A Sligo/Leitrim TD who made a pre-election promise to ensure that Sligo Garda Station is upgraded says he will “leave no stone unturned” to ensue the division gets a new station.
Fine Gael Deputy Tony McLoughlin vented his frustration on the matter with Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan in the Dáil this week.
He expressed his disappointment that no progress has been made to upgrade the station since the initial announcement by former Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald two years ago.
Deputy McLoughlin says it’s important this issue does not fall between two stools with different Ministers taking over the relevant briefs recently.
He says it’s now over to the OPW to find a site for the new station without delay:
