The Justice Minister says agreement is expected to be reached on a new site for a new Garda Station very soon.
Charlie Flanagan made the comments in the Dail just before the weekend but a similar committment was made by Minister Kevin 'Boxer' Moran at the start of August when he said an announcement would be made within 6 weeks.
Minister Flanagan was responding in the Dail to enquiries by Sligo/Leitrim Fianna Fail TD Marc MacSharry.
The current station has been deemed not fit for purpose and Sligo was approved for a new Regional HQ nearly two years ago but Gardai remain frustrated that the process is taking so long.
Minister Flanagan says the government is committed to progressing the project:
