The low number of people now doing trade apprenticeships could affect how quickly badly-needed new housing is provided across the north west.
That’s according to Donegal Fianna Fail Deputy Charlie McConalogue who says new figures reveal what he describes as ‘a shocking skills gap across a range of apprenticeship courses.
Deputy McConalogue says newly released figures show there is nowhere near the number of apprentices needed to sustain a viable construction industry.
