The number of burglaries in Sligo/Leitrim area is up almost 30%.
There was 274 burglaries last year.
According to recent CSO figures there were 274 burglaries in Counties Sligo & Leitrim between January 2017 and December 2017, an increase of 26% on 2016.
Meanwhile, nationally, the amount of burglaries is up 3.6%.
Drumshanbo produced the biggest increase in burglaries, with an increase of 212%, with 25 burglaries reported in the area last year.
Carrick-on-Shannon also saw a large increase of 135%, with 47 burglaries reported.
Manorhamilton and Kinlough also saw increases last year, and there was 43 burglaries in the North Leitrim area last year.
Meanwhile Sligo Town saw an increase of 16%, with 79 burglaries reported in 2016.
However there was a decrease in burglaries in a number of areas in Co Sligo; Ballymote, Coolooney, Grange and Rosses Point all saw decreases
The number of burglaries in Donegal is up 35% – significantly above the national average of just under 4%.
According to recent CSO figures there were 292 reported burglaries in Donegal during the period from January 2017 to December 2017. An increase of over a third on 2016.
Newtowncunningham produced the biggest increase in burglaries in the county at 900% however, there was a decrease in Ballyshannon of 9%.
8 burglaries were recorded in Bundoran, while 15 burglaries were reported in Donegal Town and Mountcharles.
