Ballytivnan’s Stuart Haxell is Ireland’s top-ranked tennis player in the visually-impaired B1 category – less than two years after taking up the sport.
The 25-year-old, who has been blind since birth, plays tennis using a ball with bell inside it.
His game is known as ‘sound tennis’. Even though Stuart has no vision, he and the other competitors wear an eye-mask to help ensure it’s an even playing field.
Ocean FM Sport watched and listened with interest at Sligo tennis club, where Stuart is a member.
