Late goal gives Shamrock Rovers victory at Finn Park

An 85th minute goal from Shamrock Rovers Greg Bolger consigned Finn Harps to another defeat in the SSE Aitricity League Premier Division at Finn Park on Friday.

Ollie Horgan’s side looked like they might hold the Premier Division leaders to a goalless draw – only for Bolger to find the net five minutes from the end of normal time to give Shamrock Rovers a 1-0 win.

The Harps boss watched the game from the stands as he was serving the first of a three-match touchline ban following an exchange with the fourth official during the corresponding fixture between the two sides a Tallaght Stadium a few weeks ago.

This was the only Premier Division match played this weekend on account of the various call-ups to the senior and under 21 international squads.

The result moves Shamrock Rovers seven points clear at the top of the table as Finn Harps remain bottom after seven games – and still awaiting their first league win of the 2019 season.
