‘Granny’s cooking’ helps Dean Clancy to a seventh national boxing title



Sligo’s Dean Clancy is celebrating a seventh consecutive national youth boxing title after winnning the 56kg (bantomweight) final at the national youth boxing finals in Dublin on Saturday.

Clancy beat Barry O’Connor from Ballyduff BC in Kerry to claim the national title. He is boxing out of the Sean McDermott club in Manorhamilton, and was a decisive winner in the final.

The victory also earns him a place on the Ireland team for September’s European Youth Championships in Bulgaria. These will be Clancy’s third Europeans having won silver medals in his two previous championships.
