Sligo University Hospital one of the most overcrowded hospitals in June



Sligo University Hospital was one of the most overcrowded hospitals nationwide in the month of June.

 

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has described it as a June like no other in terms of overcrowding.

 

There were a total of 612 people waiting for a bed at Sligo University Hospital over the course of the month.

 

It’s a rise of 42% compared with last year’s figure of 262.

 

Nationally, just under 10,000 patients went without a bed in Irish hospitals during the month of June according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Trolley Watch report.
