Sean Flanagan misses out on South of Ireland quarter-final

Sean Flanagan’s brave bid to reach the last eight of the 2022 South of Ireland Amateur Championship at Lahinch Golf Club in county Clare on Saturday fell just short in the 18th green where his opponent Colin Campbell (Warrenpoint) sunk a birdie putt to win their third round match by one hole.

Flanagan, a native of Rosses Point who plays out of Portmarnock Golf Club, had birdied the 17th to bring the match all square going down the last but Campbell produced the goods with a fine approach to the final green – and sunk the birdie putt to set up a quarter-final meeting with 2021 West of Ireland winner Hugh Foley.
