Insurance cover threatens future of thatched cottages



There are fears locally for the future of thatched cottages due to constraints on insurance cover.

It follows the withdrawal of the last remaining insurance company that previously provided such cover.

Now there’s concern that people will opt to forgo their thatched roofs, and in turn impact our national heritage.

The Government is being urged to exert pressure on insurance companies to carry out an urgent review.
