The GAA’s Central Appeals Committee has rejected an appeal made by Galway club Ballygar against the result of last month’s Connacht junior club hurling final against Easkey, which the Sligo champions won by 0-5 to 0-4.
The game was played in atrocious weather conditions at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan, hence the low-scoring nature of the contest.
Ballygar contend that a score effort, which appeared to have been sent over the bar by Cillian Egan late on in the game, but was ruled wide, should have stood.
The Galway club took their case inititally to Connach GAA – but it was rejected.
They subsequently attended an oral hearing of the GAA’s Central Appeals Committee on Monday night – but the Croke Park committee ruled the appeal out of order.
Ballygar now have the option of taking their case to the Disputes Resolution Authority.
Easkey, meanwhile, who have Balygar man Brian Healy as part of their coaching ticket, are scheduled to play London champions Kilburn Gaels in the All-Ireland juior club hurling semi-final on Saturday week, December 17th.
