Bornacoola’s Shane Mallon was named as the overall Leitrim Sports Star of the Year at a gala awards ceremony in Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday night.
Mallon was part of the victorious Ireland under-20 rugby team who completed the Grand Slam in 2022.
He spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s Austin O’Callaghan after receiving his award.
The award night, organised by Leitrim Sports Partnership, was celebrating the Leitrim sporting year of 2022 – and the special guest this year was recently retired seven-time Dublin All-Ireland winning gaelic footballer Jonny Cooper.
