The Ceann Comhairle threatened to suspend Dail proceedings this afternoon over tension between the Tánaiste Michael Martin and Donegal Sinn Fein TD Pearse Doherty.
Deputy Doherty claimed that people who are facing homelessness are being told to present to their local Garda station for emergency accommodation.
The comments were made as part of heavy criticism over the Government’s decision to lift the eviction ban at the end of this month:
Responding, Michael Martin accused Deputy Doherty of talking out of both sides of his mouth with his party renowned for voting down housing schemes both at national and local level:
Then when Deputy Doherty asked the Tanaiste what exactly the Government is going to do to counteract the ban being lifted he continued to interrupt him, which led to the Ceann Comhairle interjecting:
