A Sligo councillor is warning that any industrial by Gardaí will disproportionately impact rural Ireland and increase the threat of more activity by criminal gangs.
Earlier this week, the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors said it would hold a day of action next Monday, in a row over new rosters for garda.
The ASGI threatened to consider all forms of industrial action if matters were not addressed sufficiently.
Sligo Independent Councillor Michael Clarke says he supports the Gardaí in whatever action they feel necessary to have these issues addressed.
