Government urged to evaluate impact of sugar tax



The Government is being urged to make sure an evaluation on the impact of tax on sugar-sweetened drinks happens as soon as possible.

Sinn Feén TD Ruairí Ó Murchú is making the call, saying this tax was introduced in 2018 and took in 32 million euro last year.

The analysis of the tax by the Department of Health reportedly could lead to a new levy on some processed foods.
