Defending champion Josh Moffett leads the Wilton Recycling Donegal International Rally after Friday’s opening three stages.
The Monaghan Driver, who won in Donegal in dramatic fashion 12 months ago, was quickest on all three special stages spanning Donegal Bay, Rockhill and Copany in the south of the county.
He was 11.3 seconds quicker than Callum Devine in second with local hope Garry Jennings in third +19.2 seconds.
England’s Matt Edwards, one of the leading contenders again this year, experience engine issues on SS1 and had dropped well off the pace early on Friday.
The drivers were completing a second loop of the three south Donegal stages later on Friday afternoon.
