Leitrim Councillor not happy with government’s handling of retained firefighters



Retained firefighters in the North West and elsewhere could start resigning from today.

SIPTU is warning that move may result in ‘large numbers’ quitting the job in an ongoing row over pay and working conditions.

Strike action by retained firefighters is already ongoing and there’s still no sign of a breakthrough.

From tomorrow (Tuesday) all out strike action could begin which will result in the closure of all retained fire stations across the country.

Already in Leitrim, two out of five fire stations are not operational in the county at any one time.
