Donegal TD accuses Government of burying head in the sand



A Donegal TD has accused the Government of burying its head in the sand over a number of longstanding issues like health and housing.

 

It comes as Cabinet has signed off on the Summer Economic Statement, one of the last major staging posts before the budget.

 

Ministers will release the details later outlining how much money they expect to have to spend for next year.

 

Bumper corporation tax receipts will lead to a very large surplus, but Ministers have warned too much spending could further fuel inflation.

 

Speaking in the Dail this afternoon, Sinn Feins Finance Spokesperson Pearse Doherty was critical of the Government’s policies.

 

But responding, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar was adamant that if Sinn Fein policies were adopted over the years, the country would be in worse state than ever:
