A Sligo-Leitrim TD is among those who will be aiming to increase awareness of major new biodiversity laws being considered by the EU at a public meeting in Galway.
Sligo-Leitrim TD Marian Harkin along with Independent TDs Michael McNamara and Michael Fitzmaurice are hosting the event at the Shearwater Hotel in Ballinasloe at 1 o’clock on Sunday.
MEPs and environment ministers from around Europe are currently debating new Restoration Laws that would see 20 per cent of land and sea area in the EU restored by 2030, to reverse biodiversity loss.
Deputy Fitzmaurice says they’re anxious to make sure farmers and rural communities are fully aware of the proposals on the table:
