Sligo’s Cian Flynn wins All-Ireland triple jump title

Corran Athletic Club’s Cian Flynn won gold for Sligo at the National Juvenile Track and Field Championships in Tullamore on Saturday.

Flynn, a pupil at St Attracta’s Community School in Tubbercurry, jumped 13.14 metres to finish 11 cms ahead of Greystones Daniel Quirke, who took silver.

Despite beginning the competition with two fouls, Flynn showed terrific composure to hand his winning jump with this fourth attempt and seal a national title.

Flynn is trained by well known Sligo athletics coach Dermot McDermott.
